Five Things The Chamber Did For Your Business: October 7 – October 11, 2024

Week of Monday, October 7 - Friday, October 11, 2024

At the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to being the catalyst for economic growth by championing business, convening leaders and ideas, and being the purveyor of fun, fostering a dynamic and thriving business community here in Southwest Riverside County. This past week, we engaged in advocacy, celebrated student achievement, and delivered vital information to help local businesses thrive in today’s digital world.

Here are Five Things The Chamber did this past week:

  1. Southwest California Legislative Council Meeting This month, we attended the Southwest California Legislative Council (SWCLC) meeting, where the focus was the Legislative Positions Report. With elections just around the corner, it’s essential for us to be well-informed on the key legislative issues affecting our region. The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of the legislative positions and priorities outlined in the report, sparking important discussions on advocacy strategies that will benefit our local businesses and community members. Staying informed and aligned in our legislative approach ensures we can foster positive change and support sustainable growth in Southwest California. Check out the SWCLC Ballot Proposition Recommendations here.
  2. October Coffee with the City of Wildomar This month’s Coffee with the City of Wildomar featured a special presentation from Mayor Bridgette Moore, who provided valuable insights on the role of local government and the importance of community participation in the upcoming elections. Mayor Moore shared updates on current city initiatives and emphasized the power that residents have in shaping their community through civic engagement. This event allowed attendees to gain a deeper understanding of local governance and opened up a platform for direct dialogue between the city and its residents. As we approach election season, the Mayor’s message was clear—every vote counts in building a stronger, more vibrant Wildomar. Watch the full recording here.
  3. Celebrating Student Excellence: Lake Elsinore Student of the Month We were proud to represent at the Lake Elsinore Student of the Month Celebration in September, where eight exceptional students were honored for their achievements. These students were celebrated not only for their academic accomplishments but also for their leadership, character, and positive contributions to their schools and communities. It was a joy to witness the pride of both students and their families, as they were recognized for embodying excellence in education and beyond. We are proud to be part of a community that values and uplifts its future leaders.
  4. October Networking Breakfast: Cybersecurity Best Practices for Businesses Our October Networking Breakfast at The Cove Bar & Grill was a hit, with guest speaker Tom Grimes from Avatar Website Design delivering a powerful and timely presentation on cybersecurity best practices for businesses. As cyber threats continue to grow, Tom emphasized the importance of protecting business assets, safeguarding sensitive information, and training employees to recognize potential threats. He provided valuable, actionable strategies for mitigating risks, including the use of strong passwords, data encryption, and implementing multi-factor authentication. Attendees walked away with new knowledge on how to bolster their cybersecurity measures to better protect their operations in today’s digital landscape. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our November Networking Breakfast!
  5. Patrick’s Participation in the Inaugural Cal Cities Legislative Meet-Up for Western Riverside County Patrick, our President/CEO, attended the Inaugural Cal Cities Legislative Meet-Up for Western Riverside County, where regional leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders gathered to collaborate on legislative priorities. This event focused on fostering open communication and collaboration to advocate for legislation that supports economic growth, strengthens local businesses, and enhances the quality of life for residents. By participating, Patrick highlighted our Chamber’s commitment to being an active voice in shaping policies that drive positive change for Western Riverside County. The group’s discussions centered on finding solutions that promote sustainable growth and improve the well-being of our region’s communities. This inaugural event provided a valuable platform for ensuring that the needs and perspectives of our businesses are well-represented in future legislative efforts.

Each week, we strive to make an impact by fostering connections, providing vital resources, and advocating for the business community. At the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce, our mission remains clear: we are the catalyst for economic growth, championing businesses, convening leaders and ideas, and purveying fun as we build a stronger, more vibrant Southwest Riverside County. Thank you for being part of our journey, and we look forward to continuing to support your business and our community.
